Counselling/Lifestyle Management
What is Counselling/Lifestyle Management?
Lifestyle Management is foundational to naturopathic medicine. The mental/emotional state is considered to be just as important as the physical one and altering one’s lifestyle, addressing long-standing issues and considering various options can help the healing process.
How does it work?
Lifestyle counselling involves various tools and training to support you in your healing and wellness goals. Your doctor will take the time to fully explore with you the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and environmental factors which affect your health.
Common topics addressed in lifestyle counseling include:
Nutrition, including gut health, skin concerns, adequate protein and fiber intake, as well as chronic disease management.
Sleep, including sleep hygiene and techniques to get a quality night sleep.
Stress Management, high levels of stress in the body can lead to inflammation, weight gain, increased blood pressure, and lowered immunity.
Physical Activity, movement and exercise can help improve your heart function and circulation, as well as support healthy blood sugar levels.
What conditions does it treat?
Lifestyle Counselling, in combination with other therapies, can help you deal with fatigue, seasonal affective disorder, work-related stress and a number of other health problems.
What can I expect during a treatment?
A focus on nutritional education, stress management and sleep hygiene techniques to provide you with the tools needed to alter your lifestyle and improve your mental or emotional health.
Our Approach
Throughout our treatments, we combine traditional and modern practices, extensive knowledge of the foundations of health and the gentle touch of someone who cares. The Principles of Naturopathic Medicine are our guiding light reminding us that every patient is unique so every treatment must be too; so, our first step is always getting a full picture of your whole health, physically, mentally and emotionally, to help us identify what is out of balance and determine a truly individual-to-you treatment plan.
We’re creative in our approach to healing and utilize all of the tools available to us including new technology, continued education and breakthrough treatments keeping us on the cutting edge of healthcare. However, we always come back to the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine and the knowledge and wisdom that has been handed down to us by our mentors and predecessors. That knowledge is woven into our practice everyday and continues to inspire us to stay true to our roots.
