Allergy Testing

Allergies are over reactions of the body to substances such as dust, pollens and foods that don’t, traditionally, trigger allergic reactions. The body mistakenly interprets the allergen —the dust or food— as a threat to the body and mounts a strong immune defence against it known as a hypersensitivity reaction.

The first step in testing is determining what is out of balance in the body. In order to identify the specific allergen your body is reacting to we conduct a number of tests. The tests chosen will depend on your symptoms and medical history, but may include an elimination diet and/or blood tests.

There can be a connection between food allergies and other health issues, including headaches, arthritis, hyperactivity, mood changes, thyroid dysfunction and other autoimmune conditions. Conducting these tests helps us eliminate that possibility.
