Similar to Medical Doctors, Naturopathic Physicians complete 3 years Liberal Arts or Sciences study in an accredited college or university, then they must complete an intensive 4 years of post graduate education at an accredited Naturopathic School combining both theoretical and practical learning, with required clinical hours with practicing doctors.
After completing academic and practical training, they must pass both North American and provincial board-licensing exams in order to begin practicing in Canada. This exam is universal across North America. Once passed, each doctor is licensed and regulated by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia.
Naturopathic Physicians are encouraged to continue their education throughout their career and may choose to earn extra certifications by completing extra training and passing licensing exams.
